What are whole sign houses?

Whole sign houses make each house exactly one sign, so the sign rising at your birth is the whole of your first house and the next sign is the whole of your second.

Houses are the twelve areas of life a chart is divided into: self, resources, communication, home and so on. Signs are segments of the zodiac. A house system is just the rule that maps one onto the other, and whole sign is the oldest and simplest rule there is.

The alternative systems cut the houses by time or by space, which makes them uneven, so a single sign can span two houses or vanish inside one. Whole sign avoids that entirely. It is the default in Undersky, and you can switch systems if you prefer another.

Houses need a birth time and a birth place. The sign, phase, ingress and aspect facts on these daily pages do not, which is why they are the same wherever you are reading from.
