Saturn stations retrograde today, pausing before its long apparent backtrack. Sun and Venus stand at nearly the same degree of the zodiac today, a conjunction, and their themes read as one. Mercury and Mars stand about sixty degrees apart today, a sextile, traditionally read as an easy, cooperative angle. The Moon is in Scorpio, near its first quarter, climbing toward full.

What does Saturn mean in astrology?

Saturn is the planet of limit, structure and time, and it takes about twenty nine and a half years to return to where it stood when you were born.

It spends roughly two and a half years in a sign, which makes it the slowest of the seven classical bodies and the one whose themes arrive as chapters rather than days. It rules Capricorn and, classically, Aquarius.

Saturn is where astrology talks about cost: what a thing requires, what has to be built rather than wished for, and where reality declines to negotiate. Read as growth it is the most useful placement in the chart, and read as doom it is just superstition.

The much discussed Saturn return, around ages twenty nine and fifty eight, is simply Saturn arriving back at its natal degree. It marks a chapter, and the content of that chapter is yours to write.
